Former Nigerian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has died at the age of 78.
According to family sources, Ogbeh passed away in the early hours of Saturday, bringing an end to a remarkable public service career that spanned decades. The cause of his death has not yet been officially disclosed.
Chief Audu Ogbeh, a seasoned politician and respected statesman, served in various political capacities, including as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before later joining the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was widely known for his dedication to agricultural reform and rural development in Nigeria.
Born on July 28, 1947, in Benue State, Ogbeh began his political journey in the Second Republic, serving as Minister of Communications under President Shehu Shagari. He later made a significant mark in the agricultural sector during his tenure as Minister of Agriculture from 2015 to 2019 under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
