Kebbi Village Pupils Forced to Abandon School as Roof Collapses and Classrooms Crumble

In a troubling development, pupils in a remote Kebbi village have stopped attending classes due to the dangerous state of their school buildings. The once-functional classrooms are now in severe disrepair, with collapsing roofs, cracked walls, and broken facilities posing serious safety risks.

Community members report that the situation has been deteriorating for years, but recent structural failures have made it impossible for learning to continue. Parents, fearing for the safety of their children, have withdrawn them from school entirely.

Local education advocates have called on the Kebbi State Government to intervene immediately, warning that the lack of urgent action could further worsen the already low literacy and school attendance rates in the area.

Residents say they have repeatedly appealed to authorities for repairs, but no meaningful response has been received so far. The crumbling infrastructure highlights the wider challenge of poor funding and neglect facing rural schools in Nigeria.

Many fear that unless the situation is addressed promptly, the affected children risk falling behind in their education or dropping out entirely.
