Oluremi Tinubu Donates ₦110 Million To Families Of Late Kano Athletes

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has shown a remarkable act of compassion by donating ₦110 million to the families of 22 Kano State athletes who tragically lost their lives in a fatal accident earlier this year.

The accident, which occurred while the athletes were returning from a national sporting event, plunged the sports community and the nation at large into mourning. The deceased were young talents representing Kano in various sporting disciplines, and their deaths left a deep void both in their families and in Nigerian sports.

In a statement released on Thursday, August 7, by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, spokesperson to the Kano State Governor, it was disclosed that each bereaved family received ₦5 million as part of the Victim Support Fund initiative facilitated by the First Lady. The fund aims to provide financial relief and assistance to families dealing with tragic losses, ensuring they receive the support needed to rebuild their lives.

Senator Tinubu’s intervention has been widely praised as a significant gesture of empathy and solidarity. By extending a helping hand to the grieving families, she has not only provided financial assistance but also reaffirmed the federal government’s concern for the welfare of citizens affected by tragedies.

The Kano State Government expressed its appreciation for the First Lady’s generosity, noting that the donation would go a long way in easing the economic burden on the affected families.

This act adds to Oluremi Tinubu’s growing record of humanitarian efforts, particularly in providing support to vulnerable groups, widows, and victims of unforeseen disasters across the country.
