The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this on Friday while briefing newsmen at the police headquarters in Uyo, the state capital.
According to her, the arrests followed coordinated operations carried out in Uyo and Ikono Local Government Areas. She explained that the suspects were picked up after credible intelligence linked them to acts of cultism, vandalism, and other criminal offenses that have threatened public safety.
DSP John stated that the raids are part of the police command’s intensified campaign against armed robbery, kidnapping, and the destruction of both private and public property in Akwa Ibom.
“The Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of residents and will continue to go after criminals until peace and order are fully restored,” she assured.
The suspects, who are currently in custody, will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The development has been welcomed by residents, who have continued to call for sustained police action against the rising cases of cultism and vandalism in some parts of the state.
