FG Announces Near Completion of Koton-Karfe Bridge Repairs

The Federal Government has confirmed that repair works on the Koton-Karfe Bridge in Kogi State are now nearing completion, bringing relief to commuters and residents who have endured prolonged traffic disruptions due to the infrastructure damage.

In a statement released by the Federal Ministry of Works, officials disclosed that over 90% of the reconstruction and reinforcement works have been successfully executed. The project, which was fast-tracked due to its strategic importance along the Abuja–Lokoja–Okene route, is expected to be completed within the coming weeks.

We are pleased to inform the public that the Koton-Karfe Bridge rehabilitation is at an advanced stage. Once finished, the bridge will significantly ease traffic flow and ensure safety for all road users,” a spokesperson said.

The bridge had suffered structural damage earlier in the year due to torrential rains and heavy-duty vehicle overuse, prompting emergency repairs by the Federal Government.

Local motorists and transporters have lauded the pace of the project, urging the government to continue maintaining critical infrastructures nationwide to prevent future disruptions.

The Koton-Karfe Bridge serves as a vital link between Northern and Southern Nigeria, making it a top priority for urgent rehabilitation.
