Rift Rocks Delta APC Over Proposed Solidarity March for Ex-Deputy Senate President Omo-Agege, Party Mulls Sanctions

Tension is currently brewing within the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following plans by some party members to stage a solidarity walk in support of the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

The proposed event, which was intended to show loyalty to Omo-Agege, has reportedly caused divisions among party stakeholders, with several leaders accusing the organizers of acting without official party consent.

Sources within the party revealed that the solidarity walk has sparked heated arguments at various levels, as some members view it as an attempt to undermine the current party structure and leadership in the state.

In a swift reaction, the Delta APC leadership issued a strong warning, stating that any member who participates in the unauthorized march risks facing disciplinary actions. According to the party, no approval was granted for such a gathering, and those pushing the agenda were doing so at their own peril.

“The APC remains a party of order and discipline,” a statement from the party leadership read. “Any action capable of causing disunity or portraying the party in a bad light will not be tolerated. We are monitoring developments closely and will not hesitate to take necessary measures against erring members.”

This development comes amid lingering tensions and internal struggles within the Delta APC, especially following the outcome of the 2023 general elections and the ongoing realignments ahead of future political contests.

Political analysts believe the solidarity walk controversy is a reflection of the growing factionalism within the state chapter of the APC, with key figures jostling for relevance and control.

As the party threatens disciplinary measures, all eyes are now on how Senator Omo-Agege will respond to the unfolding drama and whether the planned walk will still go ahead in defiance of the party’s warning.
