Yoruba Group Blasts President Tinubu Over Worsening Hardship, Insecurity — Tells Him: 'Aso Rock Is Not Your Family Property, Forget 2027'

A prominent Yoruba socio-political group has fiercely criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the increasing economic hardship and rising insecurity across Nigeria, warning him to abandon any plans for a second term in office.

The group, under the banner of Yoruba Union for Justice and Equity, accused Tinubu’s administration of plunging the country into deeper poverty and insecurity, saying the lives of ordinary Nigerians have become unbearable since he assumed office.

Speaking at a press conference in Ibadan, the group’s spokesperson, Adebayo Oladimeji, condemned the president’s silence and perceived inaction while Nigerians continue to suffer under the weight of inflation, unemployment, fuel price hikes, and violent crimes.

"President Tinubu needs to be reminded that Aso Rock is not his family property. The Yoruba people, and indeed all Nigerians, are watching closely. He must forget any thought of 2027 unless he fixes this mess," Oladimeji declared.

The group also expressed disappointment in the president’s failure to address the security crisis in the northern and middle-belt regions, as well as the growing wave of kidnappings in the southwest.

They stressed that the Yoruba nation will no longer keep quiet while its people suffer, accusing Tinubu of betraying the trust reposed in him by Nigerians who voted for change and progress.

"We are tired of excuses. What we need is responsible leadership. The people are hungry, insecure, and angry. Tinubu must wake up or step aside," the group warned.

The strong-worded statement comes amid growing discontent across Nigeria, with labour unions, civil society groups, and even religious leaders raising concerns over the direction of the country.
